Lake Havasu State Park, created in 1965, covers 13,000 acres including 23 miles of public shoreline with extensive public beaches, camping and swimming areas. Lake Havasu has 195 boat camps with the Lake Havasu Marina, Site Six, and Windsor Beach providing a combination of launching, dry storage, boat rentals, gasoline, repairs and slips.

Through the lake is the principal focal point to be enjoyed for its abundant recreation, history buffs and nature aficionados will find the early mines and mining towns scattered in the desert east of the city a fascinating adventure. To get a feel of the wide open spaces of the Old West, the beautiful mountains and desert terrain adjacent to the Colorado River can be explored. There are organized desert walks and climbs. Leisurely jeep tours allow one to appreciate the rugged beauty of the mountains, with their hidden gold mines and ghost towns of Lake Havasu State Park and National Wildlife Refuge with their abundance of flora, fauna and wildlife.

Lake Havasu City boasts four (4) challenging public golf courses. The London Bridge Golf Club, a 36-hole (two 18-hole courses) facility overlooking the lake is home to the fall London Bridge Classic and the spring Havasu Pro-Am. Tennis, hiking, rock hounding, square dancing, horseback riding and other popular activities encourage a full lifestyle comfortable for all ages.

One of Lake Havasu's most celebrated attractions is the 161-year old London Bridge, the world's largest antique. Each year an estimated one and a half million tourists worldwide flock to view the granite span brought to Lake Havasu by industrialist Robert P. McCullock Sr., who founded Lake Havsu City in 1964. McCulloch purchased the 10,000-ton London Bridge, which spanned the Thames River for 148 years on April 17, 1968, for a cost of $2,460,000.

Lake Havasu City boasts a Calendar of Events jam packed with a variety of exciting annual events: Chili Cookoff, Fiddlers Jamborina, Schneider Cup, IJSBA World Championships, Showboat Musical, Striper Derby, Relics and Rods Run to the Sun and London Bridge Days to name but a few.

The Lake Havasu Allied Arts Council keeps the "Spotlight on the Arts" in Lake Havasu City. Dedicated to contributing to community enrichment and cultural diversity, member organizations represent a broad spectrum of the artistic community. Three theater organizations, community orchestra, and choir, the Art Guild and the Critics' Choice Performing Arts Series, among others, all contribute to an eclectic blend of programs, performances and exhibits that weave a rich tapestry of cultural events in Havasu.
